"Toujours Avec Toi (Stan’s Song)" is a heartfelt folk ballad I wrote in my early 20s while studying French in Quebec, Canada. It has the intimacy of a love letter, carried by gentle acoustic guitar, warm bass, and subtle piano. The stripped-down folk arrangement keeps the focus on the lyrics and melody, giving it a raw and honest feel. This song is a tribute to love, longing, and the beauty of Quebec, where its story began.
Lyrics
Oh it’s cold here in Canada
I feel so far from you
only memories help me to stay warm
but babe I’m really glad I’m here
there’s adventure, a little fear
but how I long to have you hold me in your arms

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you
are things different or new
do the deer still graze up by the catfish pond
as I sit here by the port
and watch the sailors make their course
I see reflections of a crescent moon so close yet far beyond

Chaque jour qu’une belle chose me touche
 j’amerais l’a partager avec toi
dans me pensées je te dis souvent
 que je t’aime est-ce que tu m’entends
 n’importe ou, n’importe quand
 mais toujours, toujours avec toi

My heart yearns to be free
to follow each and all my dreams
but in an instant it changes like a breeze
parce que tu est ma vie, mon coeur n’appartient qu’a toi
sans toi, que serait ma vie

Quebec city is really quaint
the plains of Abraham, la rue cartier
the Quebecois keep the city night life going strong
and if you walk down the river banks
and hear the distant city sounds
an ancient castle stand so proud and protects her ancient town

 chorus

n’importe ou, n’importe quand, mais toujours, toujours avec toi
